The Small Scale partnership in school education "ForLife. Forest - Our Lifelong teacher" is the new project of which the JUMP Association is partner since February 2022 together with the slovenian leader Drustvo DOVES - FEE Slovenia and the serbian organization EASD Environmental Ambassadors for Sustainable Development.
The project aims to educate and empower teachers in the field of global challenges of environmental education focusing on outdoor education, quality lessons, forests and their connection with climate change. Teachers from the different levels will be trained in Slovenia, Serbia and Italy on how to educate new generations of young people on forest protection and sustainability of the different environments.
The first kick-off meeting among the organizations took place in Portorož (Slovenia) on 24 and 25 February, 2022 and partners could discuss about the project goals, visiting local schools and exploring their outdoor education practices of forest pedagogy activities. Mavrica Izola kindergarten and their Korte branch unit presented how the activities of the Eco-Schools programme are included in the daily life of the kindergarten and interesting examples of forest activities that they carry out with children.
Participants could also visited the Škocjan Caves Park and got acquainted with forest learning paths in Slovenia in cooperation with the Slovenian Forest Service.
The next step of the project is the national meeting of educators and teachers in each participating country related to activities in honor of the International Forest Day . Each partner organization will recruit and involve them implementing local activities and sharing good practices to be transferred to their work waiting for the next international meeting of in May 2022 in Slovenia.
