The importance of Communication in Education

Being able to communicate is vital for an educator. Communication not only conveys information, it also encourages effort, changes attitudes, and stimulates thinking. Without it, we would create stereotypes, messages would be distorted, and learning would be vague. Communication not only conveys knowledge specific to a subject but can also influence a student’s personality. This creates the need to constantly improve subject-specific, educational and communication competences.

In our daily life, communication helps us build relationships by allowing us to share our experiences, and needs, and helps us connect to others. It's the essence of life, allowing us to express feelings, pass on information and share thoughts. Every human being shares the need to communicate.

Communication has a more significant role in teaching. A teacher must be a good communicator and should be aware of the importance of communication skills in teaching. Teacher's communication skills have an important influence on students' academic and non- academic performance and achievements.

Furthermore, Communication is cardinal in education. Whether it is teacher to student, student to student, teacher to teacher or teacher to parent, It’s when information is passed from a sender to a recipient using a medium.
