"Outdoor Learning is at its most potent when it is interwoven within the formal school curriculum" - Institute of Outdoor Learning
In the context of Ofsted's revised school inspection framework focused on broad curriculum and the importance of being outdoors as we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic, this day conference offers school leaders and teachers innovative ideas and exciting ways for children to learn Science Outside the Classroom.
East Hunsbury Primary School has been the lead school in an Erasmus funded research project with the University of Northampton, Weston Favell Primary School Northampton, CEIBas Arteaga Primary School in Spain, Djecji vrtic Petar Pan Kindergarten in Croatia and Frida Forskola Molnlycke Kindergarten in Sweden. The Project researched the impact of taking Science teaching outdoors using the UK National Curriculum for Science as its basis.
Come and find out about our Science Outside the Classroom Project, listen to the research findings. You will have the opportunity to participate in some of the lessons we have written for teachers of Science and Outdoor Learning Leads for children aged 3 years – 11 years including those with SEND, enjoy a campfire lunch, access our on line SOtC Teaching Manual and our on line Science Vocabulary Pictionary written in the four partner languages. You will be able to view other resources on our SOtC project website, browse and take away from stalls with resources to support outdoor experiences and listen to some great speakers about the benefits of Outdoor Learning for children and adults.
