On behalf of the Erasmus+ project “Health is Wealth” from the 5th to the 11th of January 2023 the third Learning Teaching Training (LTT) event was held in the city of Košice, Slovakia hosted by the partner EDU4U. The event, structured around a variety of activities and workshops, brought together young people from Calabria, Romania and Martinique, who participated in a compelling program designed to promote healthy living and wellness. The participants were able to gain a deeper understanding of the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle through physical activity but also to interact and build relationships with youngsters from other countries, which helped to promote cultural understanding.
The city of Košice is the second-largest city in Slovakia and it is known for its rich history and cultural heritage. The group had the opportunity to explore the suggestive Old Town where the city’s beautiful medieval architecture, including the Gothic St. Elisabeth Cathedral and the St. Michael Chapel can be found. Additionally, the group had the opportunity to experience the typical winter sports by visiting the High Tatra Mountains (mountain range along the border of northern Slovakia and southern Poland) and the Štrbské Pleso Lake. The group also had the chance to try the local cuisine, including traditional dishes such as Bryndzové halušky (potato dumplings with sheep cheese).
One of the most interesting experiences was visiting the Spojená škola high school where after visiting the well-equipped school gym, participants were able to enjoy the various activities offered, such as martial arts, tennis, table tennis, fitness and football and attend a self-defense class with a professional judo instructor.
Overall, the trip to Košice was a valuable learning experience for the group, as they were able to gain a deeper understanding of the city’s history, culture, and way of life, while also promoting healthy living and wellness.
