Teaching Europe.

The EU, its functioning and new priorities

for the years 2021-2027

Description and main aims

Draft proposed program

This is one of the top courses of the JUMP catalogue because JUMP is a team of experts in EU studies and EU funding programs. As project designers and trainers we know the European Union, from the historical, geographical, institutional point of view and from the point of view of the actual framework. We work with the EU Programs so we need to be daily updated and upgrade ourself as a team who fosters EU awareness and citizenship, also from a critical perspective. The EU it’s a plurality of many elements and the EU it’s part of our life because its policies influence our national ones, with more or less impact. Transversally we always teach Europe in everything we do and we develop the policies of the EU in all actions and activities developed at local regional and international level.

We designed this training because the so-called “European Citizenship Education” (ECE) is already structured in many free tools provided by the European Commission but we offer a more complete proposal to integrate the so called “education on the EU” with a better knowledge also of how the functioning of the EU is connected with policies and funds. Funds are opportunities and all citizens should have access to them.

Our training is for teachers at each level and depending on the level, we address contents and modules in a different way.

Knowing the EU today is possible for teachers teaching to kids and teaching to students. The contents are adaptable by teachers depending on their target groups. Our training is focused on giving a very detailed overview and knowledge on the actual European Union and giving access to teachers to the main sources where they can find information and educational tools. JUMP also designed useful tools in the years, thanks to Erasmus Plus projects developed with schools and teachers from all over Europe.

The training is also a very good occasion to better know the same Erasmus Plus Program in the general functioning of the “European machine” of funds (MFF) and in the long vision of targets and goals of the new strategies 2021-2027 or 2020-2030.

Target group

Teachers can be any kind of teacher working in a public or private school or educational institutions. Participants are usually school leaders, including school directors or the persons in charge of school management and coordination.

Like with all our programs, the present one is flexible and adaptable to special requests, depending on the subject taught or on the starting level of the participant.

Furthermore, in line with the JUMP Academy method, our courses are based on a strategic balance between formal and non-formal education, indoor and outdoor education and the team takes care of a very important aspect of international mobility which is the intercultural learning which we develop with short excursions and facilitating the interaction with local partners, especially schools of the territory.

We always try to connect our learners to local teachers and students to cooperate in developing innovation and networking for future projects. If possible, inside the program, a morning is spent inside a local school, visiting, observing, and cooperating in the realization of one or more lessons. The proposed program JUMP works, in European dimension and with an international spirit, at the local level and, according to the period of the training along the year and the weather, it is possible to change some sessions and add visits and meetings, in cooperation with our network of partners including schools involved in European projects).
