Description and main aims

Project-Based Learning (PBL) is a student-centred model of teaching and learning around projects.

Projects are complex tasks, based on challenging questions or problems, which involve learners collaboratively, over fairly long periods of time, in planning, problem-solving, decision making or research activities.  Through projects, pupils acquire autonomy and responsibility, develop skills and apply knowledge, learning in a meaningful way.

Teachers who make Project Based Learning a regular part of their teaching enjoy their new role, although for some it might take time to adjust from traditional practice. It’s fun to get creative when designing a project, instead of just using “off the shelf” curriculum materials. Most teachers like working collaboratively with their colleagues when planning and implementing projects, and interacting with other adults from the community or the wider world. And PBL teachers find it rewarding to work closely alongside students, tackling a real-world challenge or exploring a meaningful question.

PBL is a dynamic classroom approach in which students actively explore real-world problems and challenges and acquire a deeper knowledge. 

PBL is often called Problem Based Learning. 

Teachers and students work together to start and finish a project. From a side, students work collaboratively with one another to share ideas, build understanding and complete projects. Teachers discuss, share best practices and look for inspiration from other teachers Students and teachers work with outside stakeholders to make learning relevant and authentic. Learning comes alive. 

Our approach in training PBL starts from the fact that our team is composed of project designers and project managers. We are used to planning projects starting from problems and we know techniques to design long term projects.

Target group

Teachers can be any kind of teacher working in public or private school or educational institutions

Like all our programs, the present one is flexible and adaptable to special requests, depending on the subject taught or on the starting level of the participant. 

Furthermore, in line with the JUMP Academy method, our courses are based on a strategic balance between formal and non-formal education, indoor and outdoor education and the team takes care of a very important aspect of international mobility which is the intercultural learning which we develop with short excursions and facilitating the interaction with local partners, especially schools of the territory. 

We always try to connect our learners to local teachers and students to cooperate in developing innovation and networking for future projects. If possible, inside the program, a morning is spent inside a local school, visiting, observing and cooperating in the realization of one or more lessons. The proposed program JUMP works, in European dimension and with an international spirit, at the local level and, according to the period of the training along the year and the weather, it is possible to change some sessions and add visits and meetings, in cooperation with our network of partners including schools involved in European projects).
