Teachers today must prepare their students for a global future.

Nowadays Global Education is not a new concept, the starter was the Council of Europe which is an institution often confused with the European Council of the EU, which gave birth to its first initiatives many years ago (GLOBAL EDUCATION GUIDELINES. Concepts and methodologies on global education for educators and policymakers).

At the base of Global Education, because JUMP is an organization which promotes the EU, its values and institutions, we think that there’s always the concept of “citizenship”, related to Europe, we call it, European Citizenship with a global perspective or Global Europe (The EU projected towards the rest of the world). In the last decade, the complex of phenomena of globalization and migration brought the sector of education to face them with different strategies and new methodological approaches. Global Education is very powerful as a set of methods and practices which are evolving especially thanks to youth mobility. Global Education was born in fact for youths of all around the world, to meet and be educated about fighting racism, xenophobia, violence and discrimination and to build peace, inclusion and solidarity among global citizens. Global Education gives hope for a better future and for more aware and empowered future generations. It’s a positive way to educate with a worldwide perspective valorizing the local into the global. It became very famous in the last years, the term: glocal. The connection with Non Formal Education is very close as support to formal education, to foster inclusion and a more open minded approach to real life (real based education). 

Schools are sensitive to Global Education but there is still resistance; National Educational Programs are still stronger than the so-called European and the Global way of teaching. European Programs can accept Global Education as a possible extra tool but not as a structural method to be integrated into the local policies, while in our classes there are children and students which can be from all over the world or their families were migrants so they have “far roots”. 

This course aims at giving to teachers the proper knowledge on Global Education with the most important guidelines, training materials and approaches. It will be furthermore a very practical training where teachers will practice Global Education activities useful for students, in specific moments but also incorporated into regular teaching and participants will design and create their own materials, cooperating with others. 

The course develops in participants the competences to transfer citizenship competences, fostering active global citizenship, to build critical thinking and develop leadership skills in students. Students taking action and the ones who can change the world of tomorrow in a better one. 

Target group

Teachers can be any kind of teacher working in public or private school or educational institutions

As all our programs, the present one is flexible and adaptable to special requests, depending on the subject taught or on the starting level of the participant. 

Furthermore, in line with the JUMP Academy method, our courses are based on a strategic balance between formal and non formal education, indoor and outdoor education and the team takes care of a very important aspect of international mobility which is the intercultural learning which we develop with short excursions and facilitating the interaction with local partners, especially schools of the territory. 

We always try to connect our learners to local teachers and students to cooperate in developing innovation and networking for future projects. If possible, inside the program, a morning is spent inside a local school, visiting, observing and cooperating in the realization of one or more lessons. The proposed program JUMP works, in European dimension and with international spirit, at local level and, according to the period of the training along the year and the weather, it is possible to change some sessions and add visits and meetings, in cooperation with our network of partners including schools involved in European projects).
